Serious plays by contemporary dramatists were being produced in “little theaters” that encouraged the creation of experimental theater. These plays emphasized the psychological state of the characters and analyzed the human condition. At the beginning of the final decade, the blossoming film trade provided five- and ten-minute brief films proven in storefront theaters. By the tip of the decade, longer feature-length movies that used sophisticated techniques for telling tales have been proven in larger theaters.
